Breaking The Ice: Back At Thompson International Speedway
THOMPSON – The sun is shining, the sky is blue and there’s no snow in the forecast, time to go racing at Thompson International Speedway.
The Big T opens it 2012 racing schedule Saturday with day one of Icebreaker weekend. Practice rounds begin at the track at 11:15 a.m., with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour expected to hit the track for the first practice of the season for the division at 12:30 p.m.
It all sets up for qualifying this afternoon in preparation for Sunday’s seven features at the track, highlighted by the 150-lap season opening event for the Whelen Modified Tour.
Sunday marks the beginning of defense of the 2011 Modified Tour championship for Ron Silk of Norwalk.
Whelen Modified Tour time trials are scheduled to begin at about 3:30 p.m. this afternoon.
