Last weekend’s blizzard caused a lot of problems, but price gouging at the gas pumps apparently wasn’t among them. The state Department of Consumer protection says it received no complaints of inflated prices.
“A lot of consumers were filling up prior to the storm (Thursday),” says DCP Claudette Carveth. “We believe many people had full tanks during the storm, which probably decreased demand. Also we didn’t get the power outages of the previous storms, so more stations were open, keeping supplies constant.”
