This weekend’s Bottom Line column:

Online travel agencies like Hotwire make it easy to book an entire trip, from flights to hotel to car rentals.

In late October, Kimberly Johnson of Manchester, says she booked a flight for three to Tampa, Fla., on JetBlue, rented a car and got trip insurance for her cousin’s wedding that was only two weeks away.

The airline tickets cost $869.40, the Alamo car rental $23.30 a day for three days and trip insurance for $39.12, bringing the total, with taxes, to $1,008.19. Like most travel sites, Hotwire gave Johnson a reference number.

But when Johnson didn’t get an invoice or purchase confirmation, she returned to the website — yet found neither.
