National mortgage rates, after several weeks with virtually no movement, shifted downward in the past week, according to data released Thursday by Freddie Mac.
Thirty-year rates averaged 3.51 percent nationally, down from 3.56 the previous week. Fifteen-year rates averaged 2.76 percent, down from 2.77 percent.

Here are the numbers in New England:

This week:
30-year: 3.55 percent
15-year: 2.80 percent

Last week:
30-year: 3.58 percent
15-year: 2.81 percent

A year ago
30-year: 3.91 percent
15-year: 3.18 percent
