Mortgage Rates Higher: 30-Year Averages 4.40 Percent

Mortgage rates pushed higher in the past week as 30-year fixed-rate loans averaged 4.40 percent nationally in the past week, according to data released Thursday morning by Freddie Mac.
Fifteen-year rates averaged 4.32 in the past week. The previous week, 30-year averaged 4.32 and 15-year averaged 3.32.

The numbers in New England:

This week:
30-year: 4.41 percent
15-year: 3.45 percent

Last week:
30-year: 4.32 percent
15-year: 3.32 percent

A year ago:
30-year: 3.60 percent
15-year: 2.79 percent
