Mortgage Rates Hit New Lows; 30-Year At 3.40 Percent
So what’s it going to take to get you to refinance your mortgage? Average rates nationally for both 30-year (3.40 percent) and 15-year (2.73 percent) fixed-rate mortgages hit new lows in the past week, according to figures released Thursday by Freddie Mac.
Thank the Federal Reserve, which is loading up on mortgage securities purchases.
This week:
30-year: 3.42 percent
15-year: 2.75 percent
Last week:
30-year: 3.50 percent
15-year: 2.78 percent
A year ago
30-year: 4.01 percent
15-year: 3.28 percent
