Mortgage Rates Hold Steady: 30-Year At 4.23 Percent

Mortgage rates moved only slightly in the past week during the federal debt stalemate, with 30-year fixed rates averaging 4.23 percent, according to data released Thursday morning by Freddie Mac.
Fifteen-year rates averaged 3.31 percent. A week ago, 30-year rates averaged 4.22 percent, 15-year rates 3.29 percent.

This week:
30-year: 4.23 percent
15-year: 3.31 percent

Last week

30-year: 4.24 percent
15-year: 3.33 percent

A year ago
30-year: 3.42 percent
15-year: 2.72 percent
