Mortgage Rates Reverse Course: 30-Year Drops To 4.29 Percent

After a big gain last week, average fixed-rate mortgages backtracked nationally to 4.29 percent for 30-year and 3.39 percent for 15-year loans, according to data released Wednesday by Freddie Mac.
A week ago, 30-year rates averaged 4.46 percent and 15-year rates averaged 4.46 percent.

Here are the numbers from New England:

This week
30-year: 4.31 percent
15-year: 3.42 percent

Last week:
30-year: 4.45 percent
15-year: 3.50 percent

A year ago
30-year: 3.67 percent
15-year: 2.93 percent
