Possible Glass Particles In Bottles Leads To 1800 Tequila’s Voluntary Recall

Do not drink contents of a 1.75-litter bottle of Proximo Spirits’ 1800 Tequila, warns the state Department of Consumer Protection without checking if it is part of a recall of bottles tainted with glass particles.
Bottles of 1800 Tequila Coconut, Silver and Reposado each in 1.75-liter bottles have been voluntarily recalled by the brand owner, Agavera Camiches, S.A. de C.V, and the imporater, Proximo Spirits.
The company says the glass stoppers in some bottles were possibly damaged during shipping and handling. Though there have been no reports of injuries, small glass particles in the bottle could present a health and safety risk.

“The Department of Consumer Protection is communicating with Connecticut wholesalers who distribute the products to our liquor retailers, and we support the companies’ decision to voluntarily recall the items to safeguard consumers,” DCP Commissioner William M. Rubenstein said Friday. “While wholesalers and retailers are removing the recalled items from sale, consumers who already have these products at home can seek and receive a refund from the brand owner,” he said.
