Internet-connected devices are expected to reach 8.2 billion by 2017, exceeding the global population, according to a report by research firm IHS.
The number of connected devices — including tablets, connected TVs, gaming consoles, smartphones, set-tops, Blu-ray Disc players and PCs — now stands at 4.3 people. The prediction: a 90 percent increase by 2017.
With the world’s population expected to reach 7.4 billion in 2017, that means there will be 1.1 Internet-connected video devices for every person.
