Tone-Deaf Cable TV Industry Wants Exemption From New Law Quieting Too-Loud Commercials
When the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Acts takes effect Dec. 13, television commercials no longer can be louder than the corresponding program. It should be a great moment in television history for viewers accustomed to reaching for the volume control every during every commercial break.
Turns out the cable industry is still fighting it. The National Cable & Telecommunications Association has asked the FCC for an exemption the new law for “promotional material.”
