Toyota is recalling 7.43 million cars worldwide, including 2.47 million in the United States, because of a faulty window power-window switch that could melt or catch fire.
The North American recall includes the Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, RAV4, Scion, Sequoia, Tundra, Sequoia, Scion models xB and xD, and Yaris.
The recall, announced by Toyota Wednesday, affects vehicles produced from 2005 through 2010. The Japanese company says grease was not applied evenly during production, leading to heat-producing friction.
