Here’s a quick starter kit on where to find Olympics coverage everywhere but on NBC on your television:

Online Access
Of NBC TV

NBCOlympics.com/LiveExtra: Check with your cable or satellite provider. If MSNBC and CNBC are among the channels in your program lineup, you should have online access to Olympics telecasts either through a Web browser or app. You’ll need a log-in and password. NBC will live stream more than 3,500 hours of programming from its various networks, including including NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC and Bravo.

Apps

Official: London 2012: Join In and London 2012: Results. The “Join In” app is actually for people at the Games, with information like schedules, maps and ATM locations. The “Results” app, as the name suggests, offers results, news and profiles.
Team USA (an app with daily updates, bios, video and, for the truly patriotic, an area for online donations).

NBC Olympics app for iPhone at iTunes, though some initial user reports indicate the app uses Adobe Air, which slows response.
Available at Google Play for Android devices.

Television App: If you own a Smart TV (with Internet access) from Samsung, Sony, Toshiba or Vizio, download Yahoo’s Beyond Gold Olympics app. The supplemental coverage from Yahoo Sports includes updates, video and a real-time medal count.

Cox Cable:  Cox Communications said Friday it has added NBC Olympic Spotlight, available to Advanced TV subscribers, that’s an interactive channel with a panel of live video coverage from NBC Universal’s various networks.  Users will be able to toggle between the video panes as they monitor multiple events. Also, 200 hours of 3D programming also will be available.

One Response to Where To Find Olympics Coverage Online, Apps

It’s fantastic that there have been so many apps created for us travelers to keep up with the Olympics while on the go. I’m currently away on business for my job at Dish, so it’s been awesome using London 2012: Results to keep up with who has won what. The other app I’ve been using a lot is Dish Remote Access. I have a Sling Adapter setup at my home, so I’m actually able to use that app to watch everything, live or recorded, on my phone anywhere I get a 3G/4G or Wi-Fi connection. I’m thrilled to see the USA take home so many gold medals so far! :)
