Woman, 80, Gets Heated Over Raymour & Flanigan’s ‘Foam’ Mattress

This past weekend’s Bottom Line column:

Some people like a memory foam mattress. Some people, like Mary Weech of East Hartford, don’t.

“It generates too much heat,” she says. “As it gets colder, [the mattress] gets hotter.”

When Weech, 80, went mattress shopping in August at Raymour & Flanigan in Manchester, she wasn’t exactly sure what she wanted but she knew what she didn’t want. No foam, under any circumstances, she told the salespeople.
