Linda McMahon’s Democratic opponent, Chris Murphy, has made an issue of Linda’s support of the Blunt amendment. The amdendment, which failed in the U.S. Senate earlier this year, would have allowed private employers to opt out of federal rules for birth control coverage in health insurance plans.
Web correspondent Jenny Wilson talked with Murkowski, who noted she thought the battle over birth control was fought decades ago.
Meanwhile, here’s why Murkowski thinks McMahon can win:

Does she still support the right of religious organizations to opt out? Apparently yes.
When do we see a Moderate Democrat step forward and say “I was wrong to oppose the Blunt Amendment. It should have been amended to apply to religious organizations only.”
I forgot. There are no moderate Democrats
Another quote from Murkowski:
“If you had it to do over again, having had the weekend that you had with women being upset about the vote, do you think you would have voted the same?” I asked.

Murkowski said she believes contraception should be covered and affordable, except when it comes to churches and religiously affiliated organizations, like some universities and hospitals.
She sponsored a contraception coverage bill as a state legislator in 2002. That bill exempted “religious employers.” She said her position hasn’t changed.
