Flower Street in Hartford is closed, but Aetna and The Hartford will be offering a shuttle service to the Billings Forge farmers market on Thursdays through late October.
The shuttle is open to the community and not just employees of Aetna and The Hartford in the Asylum Hill neighborhood, according to Matt Sturdevant, who covers insurance for The Courant.
The fastest way from Aetna to the farmers market would be straight down Flower Street, but the road has been closed due to the construction of the $567 million busway that will be running from New Britain to Hartford.
State Sen. John Fonfara, a Hartford Democrat, inserted an unnoticed provision in the annual bond package that Flower Street must remain open for part of the day, but the issue is still not settled.
