State voters will cast ballots in at least two dozen primaries on Aug. 14, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says.

The figure includes two statewide primaries in the U.S. Senate race, three match-ups between congressional candidates and 19 contests to pick candidates for state legislative and local races.

Five of the contests are Republican primaries; the other 19 are between Democratic candidates.

Connecticut holds closed primaries, meaning that people are only able to vote in a Republican or Democratic primary if they are registered to vote as a member of that party. Voters who are currently unaffiliated with either party have until 12 p.m. on Aug. 13 to enroll with a party.

Below is a list of the 24 races. Asterisks are next to the name of candidates who won their party’s convention endorsement.
