Deal On Background Checks Reached

The Washington Post reports that Senators have reached a deal on a background check expansion, which will be introduced as an amendment to the gun package that lawmakers are scheduled to vote on tomorrow.

The deal would require background checks on all commercial sales, \”whether at gun shows, via the Internet or in any circumstance involving paid advertising, according to Senate aides familiar with the talks.\”

Democrat Senators Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) and Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Republicans Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Patrick Toomey (R-Pa.) negotiated the agreement and will announce the details of the deal at an 11 a.m. press conference.
