Democrat Susan Bysiewicz Says In New TV Ad That She Will Keep Fighting In Primary
Behind in the polls in the U.S. Senate race, Democrat Susan Bysiewicz is out with a new television commercial that says she will not stop fighting.
Known for her resilience throughout her career, Bysiewicz looks directly into the camera and essentially says that she is not backing down in the Democratic primary battle that culminates on Tuesday, August 14.
“I’m Susan Bysiewicz, and some people say I shouldn’t run for the Senate because I didn’t get the party endorsement. I’ve heard that before,” she says.
“People said we couldn’t ban drive-through mastectomies because the health insurance companies were too powerful … but we did,” she said. “People said we couldn’t ban gifts from lobbyists because the special interests would stop us … but we did that, too. And now, some people say we can’t hold Wall Street accountable. I approved this message because I think we need a Senator who knows we can.”
A former state legislator from Middletown for six years, Bysiewicz defeated then-state Rep. Ellen Scalettar, who was deemed as the favorite in 1998 among Capitol insiders. But Bysiewicz unleashed a tough commercial in the final days and won the Democratic primary for Secretary of the State. She served in that post for 12 years before running for governor and then attorney general.
Now, she is running against U.S. Rep. Christopher Murphy for the open seat that is being vacated by longtime incumbent Joseph Lieberman.

I use to work at the Cheshire Pratt and Whitney before they closed the plant. We went threw many differnt fase and there where many speaches made by many of people holding oiffice during that time and Chris said somrthing it made since and he understood the real issues going on but when Susan spoke she was able to say her grandmother worked there as Rosie the riveter during WW2 but other than that she did not seem to understand what was going on we need someone that knows whot in going with the biggest employer in the state.
Sounds like Suzie couldn’t find work in the private sector. Politics is the only thing she knows….too bad..she’s not very good at that either
Dear Susan and the female patient doing most of the talking,
There are two “Ts” in mastectomy. Some of the viewers of your ad are wondering about your mastery of the English language. Some listeners may even be questioning if you know what you are talking about, and are wondering what a “masectomy” really is. It initially sounds like vasectomy and is very confusing especially to those in the medical community.
The woman in your ad clearly says mas-ectomy with no “t”. What an embarrassment. Clearly makes me doubt what your talking about.
Christopher Keating did not mention that in her first election to Sec of State Bysiewicz aired a commercial that falsely claimed her opponent opposed Megan’s Law.
In fact, State Rep. Ellen Scalettar was very much in favor of “Megan’s Law” but voted for a slightly different version that she evidently thought was better law. That is not the same thing as opposing Megan’s Law.
With Bysiewicz behind in the polls and desperate, I would not be surprised if Bysiewicz pulled another stunt like that.
You have been warned Chris Murphy.
