Elizabeth Esty, the Democrat who won the 5th Congressional District primary earlier this month, will meet with the Working Families Party’s state committee this week about an endorsement, said Lindsay Farrell, the party’s executive director, Monday.

Farrell said a specific date and time for the meeting has not been set.

The Working Families Party is currently endorsing State House Speaker Christopher Donovan for Congress, but Donovan lost the Democratic primary to Esty. Now, there is question of whether he will remain on the November ballot as a third-party candidate.

“He has not dropped off the line yet,” Farrell said.

Jeb Fain, Esty’s spokesman, said Esty looks forward to meeting with the Working Families Party. Donovan called Esty on Saturday, he added.

Fain wouldn’t offer any specifics about phone call, but said, “It was a very good conversation.”
