Esty Picks Up Third Newspaper Endorsement

Three daily newspapers in the Fifth District have now thrown their support behind former state Rep. Elizabeth Esty for the Aug. 14 Democratic primary.

In an editorial published online Sunday, The News-Times in Danbury touted Esty’s positions on immigration reform, gun control and assistance for small businesses.

But like endorsements from The Hartford Courant and The Torrington Register-Citizen, this one also cited the investigation into the actions of former staffers of Chris Donovan. The News-Times has previously called for Donovan, the party’s convention-endorsed candidate, to drop out of the race and it repeated that call in the endorsement.

Esty will face Donovan and also Dan Roberti in the primary vote eight days from now.
