Facing Public Relations Issues, Harp For New Haven Mayor Campaign Hires Veteran Democrat Patrick Scully

by Categorized: 2013 New Haven Mayoral Race, Toni Harp Date:

Faced with public relations issues and questions about the family\’s taxes, Democrat Toni Harp\’s campaign for mayor has hired a veteran Democratic spokesman, Patrick Scully, as a paid consultant to the campaign.

Scully, well known at the state Capitol as the former spokesman for the Senate Democrats, tells Capitol Watch that he will be handling media strategy and communications, along with providing ideas on policy.

\”I worked with Toni for years when I was on staff as communications and media director for the Senate Democrats,\’\’ Scully said Sunday. \”I know her to be bright, hard-working and deeply caring about the city of New Haven. I have watched the race closely from the moment she announced and the timing was right in my own consulting business to be of help to her.

\”I haven\’t recently worked on campaigns, but I decided Toni was such an outstanding candidate who would make an excellent mayor so I wanted to be on board,\’\’ said Scully. \”This is a time of great opportunity for New Haven, and Toni will be a driving force for progress as New Haven\’s next mayor.\”

Scully, the spin king, is in full bloom. What a crock. Scully is not from New Haven and clearly doesn’t know our issues any better than the candidate who is paying him with campaign money raised from special interests and cronies in Hartford. It’s a total crock. Good luck spinning the Big “I didn’t know” Lie about a million dollar tax cheat. Toni Harp lives in a million dollar mansion, hides behind her dead husband’s coffin and claims their finances were so separate, she had no idea that at least 20 liens were filed over federal, state and local taxes – yes, property taxes and even the department of labor. Good god almighty – and that’s before she’s “traumatized” by walking through the hood on a sunny day. Good luck with the spin. Don”t let the truth hit you in the proverbial arse.

Hmmm. Scully was fired from Senate Dems, read about that in the Courant, escorted from the building, etc.

He seems like a serious crackpot from his blog. I guess Harp doesn’t have many choices.

Very nice spin Pat!!! For those in the vast unwashed/unknowing Public, let me interpret for them—-
    “I haven’t recently worked on campaigns….”
Translation–”I’m not in very high demand now that I can’t use my former position and connections to get you access to politicians…”
“..and the timing was right in my own consulting business to be of help to her.”
Translation–” I don’t have any clients and a man got to pay the bills, ya’ know?”

A bit rusty, Scully. Hasn’t been on campaigns, because nobody until Harp was worthy of his talents? He “wanted to be on board.” The Harp campaign must be relieved to have a man of gravitas like him aboard. Thanks for coming out of semi-retirement.
