The road trip begins next month when Democrats pile into a Winnebago RV and make the 13-hour trip to Charlotte in advance of the Democratic National Convention, which begins on Sept. 3.

Actually, the Winnebago is just for top staff. The 102  Connecticut delegates, including the state’s top elected officials, will travel on their own to the gathering.

“We have a very diverse set of delegates this year and everyone is excited to nominate President Obama for his second term,” said Nancy DiNardo the chairwoman of the Connecticut Democratic Party.

The delegates include college students, Congressmen and party activists. Among the notable delegates are former Sen. Chris Dodd, Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra, Sen. Richard Blumenthal  and Gov. Malloy. The governor’s schedule includes leading the Connecticut delegation breakfasts, speaking to the New Jersey, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Wyoming delegations, and participating in a panel discussion on the new economy at Google’s Charlotte Headquarters. He will also appear on CNN with Soledad O’Brien, Fox News with Neil Cavuto, and several national radio shows.
