Democratic fifth district candidates Chris Donovan, Elizabeth Esty and Dan Roberti will face off in a debate Saturday in Litchfield, the state League of Women Voters says.

Pat Donovan (no relation), the League’s vice president for voter service, said Tuesday that all three campaigns have confirmed that they will participate in the event at the Oliver Wolcott Library on South Street. The one-hour debate will begin at 11:30 a.m., with CT-N filming.

So far, Pat Donovan said, no other stations are scheduled the debate live in the district, which spans from Meriden and Simsbury westward to Danbury and Salisbury. She said the debate would have a similar format to others moderated by the League, with candidates taking questions on several different topics. The public can submit suggested questions to the League at askthecandidate5th@gmail.com

The three Democrats are vying for the nomination in the Fifth District in a primary vote on Aug. 14, now exactly two weeks away.

Do you really think Chris Donovan will come out of hiding by then….or will he totally depend upon his captured union vote to carry him through without debating Democrat issues of what new taxes to impose and the best way to increase the national debt….
