\"ginaThe White House this morning is confirming that Gina McCarthy, who served as commissioner of the former Department of Environmental Protection here will be named as the new administrator for the federal Environmental Protection Agency.

McCarthy, a popular and straight-talking commissioner in Connecticut before she left to run the EPA\’s Office of Air and Radiation in 2009, also worked for Mitt Romney when he was governor of Massachusetts. She is 58.
