Gov. Dannel Malloy Takes On National Republicans
Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy sharply criticized national Republicans on Monday as the GOP prepares for its convention in Tampa.
Malloy has been moving to increase his national profile this year with frequent attendance at Democratic Governors Association meetings, a recent weekend trip to New Hampshire, and a speaking post at the Democratic convention next week in Charlotte, North Carolina.
When asked by a Capitol reporter, Malloy said he was not upset that he will not be among the primetime speakers who will be seen by millions of people on the national television networks between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.
“I’m actually tickled pink that I’m speaking at all,’’ Malloy said, adding that he will talk on Wednesday, September 5. “I’m very happy to be in the 6 o’clock hour on Wednesday.’’
When asked if he will be watching the GOP keynote speech this week by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Malloy said, “That’s a big watch. I mean it’s going to be a long speech.’’
Malloy repeatedly criticized U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, who was picked by Republican Mitt Romney to be the vice presidential nominee on the ticket.
“I think Congressman Ryan is the gift that keeps on giving,’’ he told reporters.
“If you want to force senior citizens into poverty, if you want to take a gigantic share of their Social Security benefit and dedicate it to their private purchase of an insurance policy, then that’s your ticket,’’ Malloy said of Romney and Ryan. “That doesn’t get said in quite such sharp terms because what’s happened is that the dialogue is not really taking place any more. It’s sound bites. But if you drill down to what the Romney-Ryan budget would do, that’s what it would do.’’

Dannel Malloy is the Grinch that keeps on taking!
– So says one of the most unpopular Governors in the nation who won last time by just barely enough to starve of a recount…
Just what we need, lies about a decent man and lies about his plan. Has Malloy even listened to Ryan’s plan? If he did he would see seniors will keep their present Medicare. It is Obama who has raided $716 Billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Medicare is broke,is getting worse under Obamawith his 15 unelected board who decide your treatment and can’t be overruled by Congress.
Ryan’s plan maintains the security of seniors and those who will become seniors in the next decade.
Those who become seniors after that(today’s under 55 crowd), instead of finding a bankrupt plan with nothing left in it for them, will be able to purchase the coverage they need. It’s called “choice”.
When you rank below Sandra Fluke (even based on Obama’s standards), you know you are the lowest of the low. The only people lower are the Ct. voters who put this dangerous psycho in office.
If Malloy could get as good at math as Ryan, we could believe more of what Malloy has to say.
No matter how unpopular he may be, Malloy is telling the truth. Fact is the Romney/Ryan budget will impoverish the elderly and make life worse for the needy. The real Grinch and Psychos here are Romney, Ryan and the Republican Party as well as those who deny the facts.
CromwellDem – perhaps you can enlighten us all with the “Facts” as you see them. Idiot
There are no facts in play for people like this. The login name (Cromwell Dem)tells the whole story. Every state which is run by democrats is severely underwater. They can look down on red states all they want; we should be so lucky to be in the financial situation of states like Texas!
I uhh disa uh gree with uhh Governor uhh Malloy’s uuhh take.
