Republican Mark Greenberg continues to collect key endorsements in his quest to win the party\’s nomination for the 5th Congressional District seat.

Over the weekend, Greenberg announced he\’s received the backing of state Sen. Kevin Witkos of Canton and state Rep. Selim Noujaim of Waterbury.

In a message posted on Greenberg\’s campaign website, Witkos touts the candidate\’s business experience. \”Mark knows first-hand that only individuals can create the jobs and companies that support our economy over the long term — and not government jobs,\’\’ Witkos wrote.

Greenberg, a businessman from Litchfield County who unsuccessfully sought the seat in both 2010 and 2012, is hoping to unseat freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty.

The endorsements from Witkos and Noujaim, among the 150 Greenberg has received since announcing his current bid for the seat about seven months ago, come just days after news broke that Dr. William Petit is weighing a run.  Sal Stephen Ross Lilienthal of Kent is also seeking the GOP nomination.
