Newtown School Superintendent Janet Robinson is a panelist for a gun violence prevention hearing the House Democratic Steering and Policy will hold next Wednesday. The hearing, titled Gun Violence Prevention: A Call to Action, will take place the day after Vice President Biden is set to give the President recommendations from his gun control task force.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, former chairman of the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s Firearms Committee and current chief of police in Chaska, Minn. Scott Knight, and Emily Nottingham, whose son Gabe Zimmerman worked for Gabby Giffords and was killed in the 2011 Tucson shooting, are also on the panel.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a committee co-chair, announced the scheduled hearing Friday. The same day, Sens. Murphy and Blumenthal were in the state hosting a roundtable discussion on gun violence reduction.
