Capitol Bureau Chief Chris Keating sat down with Stan Simpson this weekend on Fox CT to give an update on the mayoral race in New Haven, where Democratic candidates are working to get the 2,406 signatures they’ll need to get on the primary ballot.
As Keating explains, state Sen. Toni Harp had won her party’s backing at their recent DTC meeting, but the party failed to turn those results in to the registrar on time. Now the race is on for signatures, which are due Wednesday afternoon.
After Sundiata Keitazulu folded his campaign and endorsed her on Friday, Harp said she’s got more than 5,000 signatures so far. The Democratic state senator says plans to turn in more than 7,000 by this week’s deadline.
