A lawyer for the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce is denying a report that the office was “raided” Thursday and that a computer was seized as part of a federal investigation.

Atttorney Thomas G. Parisot, who represents the chamber on certain legal matters, said in an email that “the chamber was not ‘raided’ or was any computer seized.”

Parisot did not return an email message that asked if any activity took place at the chamber Thursday regarding the investigation.

Attorney and former state Senator Kevin Rennie had reported Thursday that the activities were related to an ongoing investigation of former Gov. John G. Rowland. Rowland is now a radio talk show host, but he previously worked for the chamber as a business development official in Waterbury, where he grew up before becoming a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and governor.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office declined to comment Thursday. A chamber employee declined to comment and said that only Lynn G. Ward, the chamber’s president and chief executive officer, could speak on behalf of the chamber.

Rennie reported the activities on his blog at www.dailyructions.com

Sorry if I missed it, but would appreciate some clarity on the specific allegation of Rowland federal criminal wrong-doing. I keep seein “probe” and “investigation” but no specific alleged crime is mentioned.
