Labriola Calls for Investigation Into Hewett Conduct
State Republican party Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. is calling for a legislative investigation into the conduct of Rep. Ernest Hewett.
Labriola’s full statement after the jump:
“Rep. Hewett’s actions in the aftermath of his original remarks – skipping the meeting two days ago with the female members of the House Democratic Caucus and suggesting that interns of one gender are preferable to the other — are shedding more light and more facts about his pattern of unacceptable behavior.
“The legislator who heads the internship committee has said on the record that Hewett has a ‘history’ of such behavior and that it was known at the State Capitol. That certainly provides context to his remark that ‘having only male interns keeps me good.’
“But what is now clear is that the decision to assign only male interns to Rep. Hewett was not his decision, but the decision of the internship committee.
“It appears increasingly likely that an unknown number of female interns and/or legislative staff were exposed to, or overheard, his actions which in turn were whispered about among some of his his caucus colleagues instead of being addressed.
“The Democratic Mayor of New London has called for a legislative investigation of Rep. Hewett’s behavior and I agree that an investigation should be launched immediately. Whether or not Rep. Hewett resigns his office — as I have urged — the citizens of Connecticut need to know how many of their lawmakers quietly condoned his offensive actions.”

That’s it, I think I’m done.
Look, I don’t know the guy. For all I know he really is a cad…still, this is what a mob mentality looks like. Guaranteed they will find whatever ‘evidence’ they are predisposed to find.
