Lawmaker Pans Proposal To Raise Judges’ Pay By $45,000
Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers’ proposal to give state judges a $45,000 pay raise by 2017 — to a new level of $191,890 – is getting the thumbs-down from at least one state legislator.
“I have nothing against our judges, but this is not the time to be raising anyone’s salaries in state employment,” said Rep. Chris Wright, D-Bristol. “There are thousands of state employees who are now in the second year of a salary freeze and raising the pay of judges who are already earning high salaries makes no sense.”
“We have just witnessed the fiasco of the pay raises awarded to employees of the state Department of Higher Education that has resulted in the resignation of the two top administrators and the revoking of other salary hikes,” Wright said in a statement emailed to reporters. “We are still facing a serious budget challenge, so let’s take pay raises off the table.
“While there are judges who may have left the bench to join the private sector, the fact is there are lawyers in every court room in Connecticut yearning to be appointed a judge. Judges probably deserve a pay raise, but there are people everywhere, both in the private and public sector, who deserve pay raises, but do not earn as much as judges,” he said.

A $45,000 pay cut is in order. It’s the only way to meet their demands with the proper outrage.
Is there no end to the greed and avarice of the state’s elected and appointed officials?
It’s apparent these elite oligarchs need to be reminded that the unemployment rate in the state is running somewhere between 10-15% (don’t believe the fudged numbers put out by the manipulative Malloy and Obama administrations…) and taxpayers are tapped out, thanks to out-of-control spending by a Democrat-controlled legislature.
Inflation has been running below 2% for at least 4 years and there is NO justification for the outageous demands being made by Justice Rogers and her colleagues.
They should also be reminded that the state’s workers (both public and private) who pay their salaries have been working under wage freezes for 3-4 years (state workers for 2 years) and even wage reductions, as well as benefit reductions that these pampered pol’s are immunized from.
At the very most, if any sort of salary increase is granted, it ought to be capped at a rate not to exceed the rate of inflation.
This is the kind of arrogance that breeds revolutions.
More corrupt judge. No judge is worth that kind of money. In these state agencies you have so many corrupt state employees who misusing their authority for their own personal reasons. When citizen file complaints with the Chief court administrator Barbara Quinn about illegal activities going on in state agencies. this judge ignored these complaint send in by citizen. When a citizen report a crime is going on in the state agency, these employee helping a client commit fraud. Before any money was paid to this client. Complaint was file with state Chief court administrator Barbara Quinn about this. this judge ignored these complaint.
Magistrate judge K. Hutchinson discrimination towards men & unfair treatment. lots complaints about this same thing ignored these complaint
