Legislature to Form Bipartisan Panel on Sandy Hook Proposals

Legislative leaders are forming a bipartisan task force to look at bills dealing with gun control, school safety, mental health and a host of other issues related to last month\’s tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Lawmakers will formally announce the task force tomorrow. It will serve as a clearinghouse for Sandy Hook-related legislation proposed during the 2013 session by the following committees: appropriations, finance, children\’s, judiciary, public safety, public health, human service, higher education, education and insurance.

Earlier this month, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy formed a commission on Sandy Hook led by Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson. Vice President Joe Biden is leading an effort to address gun violence on the federal level.
