Gov. Dannel P. Malloy Wednesday announced nearly $12 million in federal housing grants to 26 municipalities.
“The federal “Small Cities” program is an important resource for cities and towns that are undertaking important housing initiatives,” Malloy said in press release. “These municipalities are making much-needed improvements to existing housing, creating more affordable housing options and improving the quality of life for every resident.”
Municipalities receiving the aid include Ansonia, Ashford, Beacon Falls, Brookfield, Canterbury, East Hampton, Ellington, Groton, Hampton, Killingly, Lebanon, Ledyard, Naugautuck, New Fairfield, Plainfield, Putnam, Roxbury, Salisbury, Southbury, Sprague, Thompson, Torrington, Vernon, Waterford, Windham and Woodstock.
In Torrington, for example, a $400,000 grant will provide financial assistance to repair 10 homes for low and moderate income households.
