Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and the state Democratic Party have been particularly low-key about a fundraising trip last week to California.
Both the governor’s office and the state party have refused to reveal details about the trip that was taken on Friday and Saturday to the Golden State. The state party paid for Malloy’s trip, and he traveled with the party’s executive director, former state Senator Jonathan Harris of West Hartford.
Upon returning to the Capitol on Monday, Malloy was met near the building’s entrance by two newspaper reporters who asked for details about the fundraising trip.
How was California?
“It was nice,” Malloy said before continuing to walk inside the building.
The Courant’s Daniela Altimari reported on the trip previously :
“The governor’s out there supporting the state Democratic party, raising some money for us,” said James Hallinan, the party’s spokesman. “He’s doing fundraisers … private events.”
Hallinan declined to say how many fundraising events the governor was attending, where they were located and who was hosting them.
“It’s our protocol not to talk about fundraisers,” he said.
