Malloy Praises Obama\’s Economic Message

by Categorized: Barack Obama, Gov. Dannel Malloy, Uncategorized Date:

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy issued a statement Wednesday afternoon praising the president\’s economic speech.

“Today, the President renewed his call to Congress to set aside rigid partisanship and ideology and act in the best interest of the American economy and the American people.  Even amidst a national recovery that has created millions of new jobs, there is much more work to be done to rebuild a strong economic foundation that supports a growing middle class and rewards hard work.

“I applaud the President’s enduring commitment to an economic strategy that creates jobs that pay a living wage, an education policy that equips our citizens for those jobs, and policies that strengthen homeownership and help Americans enjoy health and retirement security.

“There is much Congress can do right now to accelerate economic growth.  What Congress must not do is reprise the reckless behavior of the House Majority in 2011 when they brought the U.S. government to the brink of shutdown and default.  Such political brinksmanship damaged our economy then and will do so again if partisanship wins out over patriotism.  It is my sincere hope that Congress will heed the President’s call and act in the best interest of our citizens.”

What could be more meaningful than praise for Obama’s economic message from the Governor of the only State with negative GDP growth last year.

Kind of like Jeffrey Dahmer complimenting Ted Bundy on his kind and gentle approach to humanity.

You love saying negative growth. It was 0.1 percent negative. The error band is probably larger. People probably imagine a plunging GDP when it was really more like flat.

By the way, those numbers are adjusted for inflation. In simple unadjusted dollars our 2012 GDP growth was positive. But 2012 dollars are worth less than 2011 dollars so the 2012 number gets reduced. Now you know.

Correct, however that doesn’t change the fact CT is DEAD LAST in the nation. All the other states GDP is calculated the same, thus the inflation adjustment is a moot point. We lag the country, period, whether we’re actually growing or just stagnating.

        1. fred

We are one of 5 states that grew less than 0.2 percent. We are one of the 9 states that grew less than 1.0 percent. All the rest grew 2 or 3 percent. So we are close. Keep in mind that these numbers get revised. The CT revision this release was over TWO PERCENT downward. The next release is scheduled for the summer of 2014 and will include revised statistics for 1997—2012. You could be screaming “dead last” and “negative growth” for a year only to find out you are wrong once the more accurate results come in.

          1. johngaltwhereru

I bet I won’t be so wrong that CT jumps out of the bottom quintile of States, while States under Republican control top the list of growth.

          2. Connecticut is Circling the Drain

Bagdad Fred is again singing the praises of our liberal Connecticut miracle. People who hang the country’s economic future on silver-tongued community organizers and union-owned tax and spend liberals get what they deserve. If you can’t see through these assclowns then shame on you.

      2. johngaltwhereru

Liberal reaching, excuses, semantics, and economic mental gynmanstics aside, Connecticut had the worst economic growth of any State in the entire Nation. Nothing will change that.

Justify the pathetic economy anyway you wish, but it is clear that Malloy’s policies, which were passed by Democrat majorities in both houses are an utter failure when compared to every other State in this Country.

And while you are at it, go ahead and justify North Dakota and Texas ranking #1 and #2 in GDP growth, and both of those States having Republican Governors and Republican control of their States’s Senate and House.

North Dekota is fracken its way to hell and this is why they are numero uno.

You complaining of “semantics” is like the pot calling the kettle black.

          Frack you.

          1. Johngaltwhereru

I wasn’t aware that acceptability of GDP growth is based upon whether Liberals like the method by which they grow.

Is it true you are Fred? If so, that is disappointing.

          2. Toronto Billy Boggs

JohnGalt, you should be able to figure that one out. No, I am not Fred. But Fred is a good guy.

As to you response, I only made a statement like you make statements.

      3. Kim

Fred: With all that dancing leading up to an acknowledgement that JohnGalt is right about the ‘negative growth’, I now recognize you. You’re Fred Astaire!

        1. Kim

you seem to be confused, as usual, billy. YOU are the one who perpetually claims to intend to be kinder, nicer, less mean, etc. I don’t make such false claims. Unlike you, I keep my word

Not even a good try, pathetic creature

Both Democrat & Republican politicians have failed the working class by rescinding or amending Employee Labor Laws which allows BIG Businesses to greatly benefit from reduced employee protection due the working class for medical, sick/vacation/holiday and wage benefits. When BIG Businesses can eliminate a department by reclassifying it with a new department/job title and force an already member of their company to reapply for the same job, this is WRONG. Politicians from both parties can enact law to protect this from happening to employees. Shame on both political parties for allowing BIG Businesses to reduce wages in this manner. The term lay off should only apply if the job NO longer exists and not by reclassification of a department or job title.

Hence, the false lay off practice should have politicians up in arms enacting new employer labor laws making it a CRIME and ILLEGAL to falsely eliminate a job or department title and offer a reclassified job as the same job, even if they add one or several new job requirements, the job is overall the same. Our Government sorely needs a new Federal Labor law enacted to PROTECT long term employees from this deceptive lay off practices by unscrupulous employers. In addition to this new labor law… Employers can not require employee(s) to reapply for the ‘same work’ reclassified job or re-titled department, since they were an already an employee of said company. Companies must offer them the new job without lay offs or lost scaled wages earned by a senior employee. There is something seriously wrong with our politicians… politicians who side with unscrupulous big businesses that practice laying off their employees falsely without just cause. Politicians have become as corrupt as their unscrupulous business friends, who have perfected this deceptive loop hole against NON-UNION employees.

Yet, state & town politicians CAN NOT themselves reclassify Police & Fire department/job titles and lay off their employees only later to inform them they have to reapply for the same jobs under a new department/job titles. There is no equal JUSTICE from our political system to penalize employers, because it would penalize (themselves) state & town governments. Just ask Detroit’s politicians were all the money went. Tax rates continue to go higher for the lower middle & poor workers. Meanwhile, BIG Businesses have perfected their loop hole wage reducing method. Shame on ALL corruptible politicians who have allowed BIG Business to conduct themselves in this shameful wage reduction method.

It can’t be said any plainer than this:
The saddest, possibly the most accurate short message you will read.

    Written by a USMC Vet

I can’t argue with any of it. Passing it along as it was received.

    He wrote:

The American Dream ended (on November 6th). The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.

A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell’s America. The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch…the Pit Bull is in the back yard.

The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their beige puppet to bring us Act 2 of the New World Order.

Our side ran two candidates who couldn’t even win their own home states, and the circus fatty Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing “post Sandy” tribute that elevated the “Commander-in-Chief” to Mother Teresa status.

People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.

You will never again out vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots, not moderates–not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.

Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to “white guilt” and political correctness…..

    I’m done.

    Dear Patriots:

At least in OUR time, we knew and understood Valor!

It is, to that end, our lives will conclude as they were begun-No Surrender and God Bless America!
