Malloy Pushes Ahead With Gun Bills, Despite Concerns of Connecticut Gun Manufacturers
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is pushing ahead with his gun-control package, despite concerns from the local manufacturers who make AR-15 rifles in Connecticut.
Some advocates are concerned that gun restrictions, pushed by Malloy and some lawmakers, could harm the Connecticut manufacturers – either forcing them to leave the state with their good-paying jobs or potentially even go out of business.
“They won’t go under, based on our state’s action alone. I don’t want them to leave,” Malloy told reporters at the state Capitol complex Wednesday. “As long as they are manufacturing a product that can be legally consumed or purchased in the nation, they are welcome to stay in our state. I sent them a letter to that effect. … We’re not asking them to leave.”
He added that there should be no conflict that the manufacturers could remain in Connecticut while selling the weapons in other states. ”If that required legislative approval, we would garner that approval,” he said.
Two members of Malloy’s team – former state Rep. Michael Lawlor and aide Arielle Reich – have met with representatives of the gun manufacturers to talk about the legislation and its impact.
“That doesn’t mean we will allow for the sale in the state,” Malloy said. “Honestly, again, I don’t think it’s hypocrisy. These products can be sold in other states. So, we don’t want to limit the ability of manufacturers who have long histories in our state to continue in this state. Having said that, I believe that the population of the state of Connecticut overwhelmingly supports tighter gun safety laws. There’s nothing other than that.”
He added, “There is a certain reality that this is a sensitive time for the manufacturers, and they are seeing what is happening in California, in New York, in Maryland, in Delaware, in other states, and they are sensitive to that. Having said that, I want to be very clear that these companies are welcome to remain. … We’re not forcing them to leave. I suspect that they’ve been courted before this debate, and I suspect they’ll be courted after this debate, just as companies are courted on a regular basis.”
He noted that Connecticut has already had an assault weapons ban for nearly 20 years, and the manufacturers have remained in Connecticut.
“We’re looking for a definition that the NRA and its supporters can’t drive a truck through. We think we’ve arrived at that definition,” Malloy told reporters after the State Bond Commission meeting. “I think passing the magazine limitation is very important to making any of those instruments safer than they might otherwise be in the wrong hands. … We just don’t want people to drive trucks through loopholes.”
Regarding the delays in legislation as the three-month anniversary of the December 14 shootings at the Sandy Hook Elementary School approaches, Malloy said, “I’m the governor. I have to wait a lot. I throw out ideas and put out budgets, and in the legislative process, there are built-in months and months and months of waiting. Do I think the people of Connecticut have waited long enough? The answer is yes. I do think they’ve waited long enough. On the other hand, I’m not the legislature.”
He added, “We’re going to find out whether there’s an agreement on an e-cert-type bill or not. That’s why it could be done quickly or it could be done during the normal course of business over which, I don’t play a role. I can’t make Republicans agree to an e-cert. That’s not something I can do. It is what it is. It’s a process. You guys have watched sausage being made in this building for a lot longer than I have.”
Concerning what advice he would give to those advocating for gun control and lobbying legislators, Malloy said, “I think they should be here today, tomorrow, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.”

The liberal agenda cannot be stopped for some pesky corporate moves to other states. There is more important work to be done like taxing, spending, borrowing, and regulating this state into oblivion. Only when Connecticut is transformed into a fiscal wasteland like California or Illinois can liberals rest.
Get with the program people. BOHICA.
boring. boring…
Bill needs to get a life.
Bill is a Brain Washed American Sheep.
Hey, I’m gonna make a song from that line tonight after I make my pizza. “brainwashed Bill.” thanks for the idea.

Don’t quit your day job Bill.
It sounds like Danny-boy is willing to roll the dice on this one.It is hypocrisy and they will leave.
How is he planning on funding all of the school districts that now want armed guards in each school. The list of towns doijg this is growing. Thie week alone both Newtown and Enfield voted to put guns in schools. When there is no one left to tax and all jobs are gone he will be ruling over the proverbial “House of Cards”.
I clearly remember 5 or 6 weeks ago Malloy saying that Ct would never go the route of having armed guards in schools. But, I guess if the “people” want it its ok with him now. Where’s the absolutely “NO WAY” from him. Bend with the political flow.
Governor,
A couple of questions.
1) If there has been a ban on “assault weapons” in Conn. for 20 years just what has the public been purchasing and manufacturers producing. The answer is a Conn. compliant semi-automatic weapon which conforms to the satutue which clearly defines the difference between an assult weapon and a leagl semi-automatic weapon. So, why are you now classifing the compliant weapon an “assult weapon”. It it clearly by state law completely legal in this state.
2) Why did you waste tax payers time and money (which you concede we don’t have) to form a committee to evalute gun controls if you were just going to push your “proposed” legislation. Did the committee’s findings not turn out to completely support your predetermined agenda? Were you just looking for a legitimized sanctioning of what you directed the committee to come up with?
You have stated that’s it ok for these weapons which are so destructive can be sold out side the state to consumers in states that don’t percevive tham as Conn. does. So Conn can be a producer of weapons of such destruction but residents can’t own one.
You are so hipocritical.
Here we go, pass a law on magazine capacity. Yup, that makes sense. Let’s not even look at the mental health problem in our country. Wake up!!!!! these gun restrictions WILL DO NOTHING!!!!! to save lives. If none of it could have prevented Sandy Hook, what is the purpose of passing anything? Because its all politics.
Malloy has a mental health problem. Do you expect him to examine that?
The FBI tells us violent crime has decreased by 50% nationwide over the past 20 years. Even as gun rights have expanded during that time.
Nations that have banned guns across the board have seen violent crime increases afterwards. Virtually gun free England has a violent crime rate about three and a half times higher than in the US.
So, why is the Governor in such a hurry to ban just one class of rifle that accounts for only a fraction of the 3% of US gun crimes committed with all rifles combined?
Could it be that rational debate takes time, and the gun grabber’s agenda depends on emotion over reason?
And an emotional obsession with one kind of hardware distracts from a reasonable focus on addressing the root causes of violent crime, and criminal insanity. It’s common sense, not one of the Governor’s proposed new laws he’s in such a hurry to hurry through will do anything to reduce those ongoing scourges.
Beacuse this gun is a “demon” a weapon or war. No self respecting army would go to war with a Conn compliant semi-automatic weapon. It wouldn’t last a week under combat conditions. This is a cosmeticlly duplicated weapon which by its appearence alone scares the unknowing. Handguns are the choice weapon for most criminal activities, they are next. Because banning AR style weapons are not going to stop anything, evil will adapt quickly. So, the next round will be “hey, you know we made a mistake it was really handguns that were the problem, so now we need to addess those”. Its already been said enough by gun control legislators AR’s are the first and easiest step to take.
Norm: he is focusing on the AR-15 because it was used in Newton and passions are high – remember: never let a good crisis go to waste.
His agenda is banning ALL GUNS from private ownership – he is in accord with Obama on this. The plan is called ‘incrementalism’ – pass this law while passions are high then use it as a steppingg stone to get rid of everything.
Subsidize the MFG to keep them in the state and allow them to sell to the armed guards in the schools and the police state, but kick in the doors of honest citizens and take their guns away.
Kim, It is so interesting that during these remarks left by you and your comrades, you hardly give a thought to all those who are killed by the gun.
So much for your humanity. The only self interest is me keep my guns and the heck with anyone who might lose their life as a result of this compulsion to possess.
Bill, it is interesting that in your remarks you imbue inanimate objects with free will to kill.
Are you also concerned with cars, pools, clubs, knives, etc? Do you not give a thought to those whose lives are lost with those objects?
Yes I do but the topic here is guns. GUNS.
Pools ! Pools kill TWICE as many OF THE CHILDREN as guns – but Liberals LIKE pools! So yes, Bill the topic here is GUNS! EVIL GUNS! NOT the Children you only care about when they SUPPORT YOUR AGENDA !
Bill, I’ve expressed my condolences often enough that it’s no longer necessary to repeat myself.
Malloy is a Failure and Worst Governor in CT’s history!
This Malloy character doesnt have clue does he? He sends a letter to our states gun manufacturers telling them that he will allow these companies to stay here pay taxes and produce their product to sell and distribute to other states but he is going to outlaw them for sale here. Is he for real? These damn liberal politicians are railroading this anti gun legislation with their blinders on. They are not addressing the real problem. The guns arent the problem behind these massacres, it mental health. These guns will just find their way back to our streets from other states. Are our politicians this freaking naive? What is malloy and his cronies going to do when they see this is going to do about as much for gun violence as his highest tax increase in the history of our state did to balance the budget. When is his term over I sure hope he doesnt get re elected.
This is of course no surprise as no official police report from Newtown has been released and Malloy isn’t even listening to his own committees that were set up. Malloy doesn’t listen to anyone and certainly doesn’t do his homework. Meanwhile, there are tens of thousands of fewer beds in mental health facilities in Connecticut and he keep cutting the budget for mental health. Instead, go after people who own semi-automatic rifles and penalize them. This is disgraceful. I hope the gun companies leave the state and go somewhere they will be welcomed. Malloy doesn’t deserve these tax payers here.
It’s time reasonable public safety laws were passed – to ban progressives.
Dan is doing what does best. Nothing. A lot of talk and upon reflection and with time,no action.
Well. He got rid of the death penalty. Decriminalized pot. He has run up our debt to record levels and squandered tens of millions of dollars for corporate welfare. Shared sacrifice? Open for business?
His wife got an almost $200K (doing nothing) a year job when the rest of America went begging. He fired workers and had to rehire them. Federal disaster money became an IF, not when, in spite of Dan flapping his jaws…
He got a trip to China and Davos while Nutmeggers can’t even commute due to poor roads and traffic. He gets to schmooze in DC and take helicopter trips. He has built a fence around his residence in Hartford and has raised taxes to record levels.
I guess my only question is…what if Adam Lanza had lived? would the death penalty be dusted off for RETROACTIVE use, like Dan’s tax increase?
If the gun maker are smart, they would get out and go to states tha thave a future.re
Oops ! Don’t forget the EARLY RELEASE PROGRAM which has ALREADY killed TWO we know off and COUNTING! So that is 10% of the Newtown CHILDREN and you can credit “Our LeadrrShip!” not “gunz!” Um, ah, um, ah, CHEW ON THAT !
Remember Connecticut Gun Owners, Malloy won election in 2010 by 1/2 of a percent. Less than a 6500 vote difference with over 1.1 million votes cast. Want these gun grabbers to stop? It will happen after a few are voted out. Why do think we haven’t seen federal gun legislation since the 1994 assault weapons ban. Because in the 1994 election 9 of 34 Senate seats and 54 of 230 Congressional seats changed parties because the incumbent signed that bill. Vote a few out and watch the rest shut up.
Malloy is a one term idiot.ALL This just seals the deal.
Don’t be so sure about that. There are a lot of misguided, uninformed people in this state. Malloy won because of the pre-planned, Bridgeport vote fixing.
Malloy is lobbying HARD to land a job in the Obama admin. In fact, his push on gun control is part of that effort: Obama has tasked all of the Democrat governors with Democrat-controlled legislatures to pass tough gun restrictions to help advance the chances for getting federal restrictions that will be equally tough. Not necessarily this year or next, but down the road. This is the method of Fabian socialists everywhere: Incremental destruction.
JUST REMEMBER HIM AND HIS PARTY AT ELECTION TIME…..AS STATED ABOVE “HE IS THE WORST GOVERNOR IN OUR HISTORY” AND THE LEGISLATORS ARE THE SAME . FIRE THEM ALL AT ELECTION TIME
DON’T FORGET OR FORGIVE…FIRE ‘EM…REMEMBER THEY WORK FOR US, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND
Malloy’s strings are being from Washington, and these legislators would be fried at a local and national level if they did nothing. It’s more about their image, or lack of if no bans were passed in this matter. Not people’s rights or jobs, income taxes. They have no care for that. It was a done deal the day it happened. Start packing your bags for the move south.
Washington? Look closer… like NYC. How much money is being funneled to him thru Bloomberg’s anti-gun groups?
Bloomberg (and Soros behind him) is just the money man. The real puppet master is Obama.
Malloy is quoted as saying: “THAT DOESN’T MEAN WE WILL ALLOW FOR THE SALE IN THE STATE,” Malloy said. (KIM NOTE: ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS INTENT?)
“Honestly, again, I don’t think it’s hypocrisy. These products can be sold in other states. So, we don’t want to limit the ability of manufacturers who have long histories in our state to continue in this state.” KIM NOTE: WE DON’T WANT TO LIMIT THEIR ABILITY AS LONG AS THEY DON’T TRY TO SELL TO CT CITIZENS.
“Having said that, I believe that the population of the state of Connecticut overwhelmingly supports tighter gun safety laws. There’s nothing other than that.” KIM NOTE: TIGHTER GUN SAFETY LAWS APPARENTLY TRANSLATE INTO NO GUNS ALLOWED BY CITIZENS, HONEST OR OTHERWISE. WE’LL MAKE THEM BUT YOU CAN’T HAVE THEM. MAYBE WE’LL EVEN SUBSIDIZE THE MANUFACTURERS TO CONVINCE THEM TO STAY IN CT.
My promise to the manufacturers in CT: If their products can’t be purchased here and they DON’T relocate to another state, I will NEVER purchase another one of their products. I won’t support government hypocrisy and I won’t support manufacturer hypocrisy.
Yet the people of CT continue to put liberal democrats back in office time and time again. They complain about them but they still vote them in. Don’t blame the republicans the majority is democrats.
yep. sure do.
These laws are about preventing gun violence and preventing deaths and injuries from firearms. The bottom line is this: If the large magazine ban law had been in effect as well as the expanded assault weapon ban, it is likely that more of the children and adults slaughtered at Sandy Hook would be alive today. Furthermore, over 2/3rds of CT citizens support both (Quin. Poll). The Governor is doing exactly what is asked of him by the citizens of CT, and so will the Legislature.
Karen, it seems to me that that the Governor and Legislature would have rammed this thru already if they could ala “Cuomo” in NY. There must be some resisitance from the Democratic majority as these talks have now been going on for days and nothing has happened. I may be wrong but just maybe there are some clear thinking Democrats who have their law abiding and voting constituents in mind as they negotiate. I can only hope that clear thinking and sanity prevail.
You are the perfect example of a Brain Washed American Sheep!
Are you talkin to me?
Karen, with all do respect you need to educate yourself in this area before you speak. The shooter at Sandy Hook had high capacity magazines, that is true. The problem with that argument is that he came with multiple magazines and kept tactically reloading, meaning, he dropped a magazine as he went so it didn’t matter how many he had in one mag, he just shot a few out of each one. A semi auto means every time you pull the trigger a round goes off. The same damage could have been done with the 2 handguns he had with him. It’s not the gun, it’s mental health!!!! do we ban the car that the drunk driver was driving when he kills someone because it had a 26 gallon fuel tank. No one should be aloud to have that much gas in one car. People need to WAKE UP!! IT IS NOT THE GUN!!!!! Switzerland has the highest gun ownership in the world and the lowest crime rate in the world. Why is that? Sorry I didn’t put this in the “Reply” section so that is why its in here twice.
Ive read that Quinnipiac poll, its completely biased and misleading and totally flawed and the politicians know it. Funny the govenor and legislators didnt seem to care about polls when 70 % of the people here wanted the death pebalty to stay. A recent courant poll showed residents donot want a so called assault wepons ban (whatever that misleading firearm is)only restrictions on who should be able to buy guns.
Karen,
How could you possibly know, or even speculate, that the size of Lanza’s magazines had an effect on the number of deaths.
The State refuses to release how many rounds were used from each weapon Lanza used. That means that many of the children could have been killed by his hand guns. We may never know how many rounds were used by each weapon, as that would harm the “assault rifles are the scourge of the Earth” narrative. But one thing is certain, and that is that unless you worked directly on this case, you have no idea about the effect the magazine size had on this tragedy.
Karen, thank you. Calm heads are present here.
Karen, please explain how the VA Tech murderer was able to kill 32 adults (not helpless children) with magazines of no more than half the capacity?
No one who was not there can say whether any lives would or would not have been saved. You also fail to consider how many people might lose their lives during self defense if deprived of magazines over some arbitrary size.
Karen. Please tell me how many kids you would have been ok with dying. The magazine limit is Bs. Only 2 things would have stopped sandy hook. 1) Lanza was committed before he could do any harm. Oh but wait liberals say his rights need to be protected and we can’t label him mentally defective. 2) an armed guard put 2 bullets in his head the second he showed up with a gun.
K: Do you know how long it takes to eject and replace a spent magazine? Obviously not. Seconds.
Know of what you speak. Don’t fall prey to lies and disinformation from the politicians and anti-gunners who have never fired a gun.
No surprise here, Socialists abhore private industry and would prefer to pilfer funds from private citizens, to lure select governmentally accountable business to the state. That way no one will ever be able to determine exactly how much money Malloy is throwing into the crapper !!
His passion for banning these weapons will accomplish nothing except further damage a fragile Connecticut economy.
Sad Day: Well it might adversely affect the state’s economy. Possibly. But we sometime must respond to a higher law – the law of righteousness. This is one of those times.
I realize you don’t agree. But this is the reality of it. God bless you.
Deadly Shootings Rattle Upstate New York.
They just passed VERY strict gun control in NY state. How did this happen?

Common aka ct is dying: Thank you for illustrating the argument to also ban all semi automatic handguns. Hopefully, that won’t be so far down the pike.
Bill is a Communist!
Here Bill, look: Deadly Shootings Rattle Upstate New York.
They just passed VERY strict gun control in NY state. How did this happen?
Comrade, ve will go to zee Bolsveck Banquet and toast Comrade Lenin.
Long live Komrade Lenin.
Malloy is a liar, a hypocrite and an exploiter. Over 3000 pro gun supporters showed up at the Capital monday to protest his unconstitutional , outrageous proposals. 20 gun control supporters showed up today. Twenty lol.The people have spoken over and over again. They DONOT want unconstitutional gun control that will turn them into felons . If we have a ban already govenor why do we need another? Why is it ok to ship out thousands of ar-15 to other states across the country if they are sooooooooo bad. Govenor, you are a DISGRACE and a raging HYPOCRITE
you are a fool
Do you not believe in truth?
Joanie is the fool, or should I say a Brain Washed American Sheep or both!
And you, Amerika, are corrupt. Be gone, Satan.
And you are a Communist!
Comrade America, you will be put to firing squad.
Workers of the world unite.
Good job Bill,
Now the free flowing dialog is gone and the speech police are back.
Yes, the post was over the line, but did it cause you harm?
No, not me but if a 10 year old was tuning in, I have spoken for her or him. And btw, I have committed to not expressing the stuff I have in the recent past. It is done and it is spent. I will engage with ideas and concepts from now on. No more toilet humor.
I suppose your lazzie fair Philosophy of letting everything be expressed – well I don’t buy it. You can’t yell “fire” in a theater if there is no fire. We call this responsibility in our comportment.
JohnGalt: I forgot to add that I reacted the same way when a certain poster made an indirect threat on the President. Hey bro, everybody has buttons.
But…but…but… Did you issue this retort when you dear friend called the “police” to complain? Of course not.
I’m not letting you get away with anything though I have lowered my sword. You are still the enemy. And you remain Dr. Picklehead although it is said in humor.
oK, Dr Picklehead?
now we know that according to billyboys’ rules, we can call him virtually anything we want and it will be ok as long as we label it as ‘said in humor’
Karen, you mean that age old Liberal Mouthpiece, the Quinnipiac poll? You are aware that polls can be very easily structured to produce the result desired, especially when the respondents are highly uninformed, as they are here in Connecticut. Please use some skepticism when relying on poll results.
Push polling. The folks at Q-poll are Olympic level world-class champions of push polling.
For those who haven’t seen it before, this idiot gov has been letting out convicts early. To date, approximately 7,500 have been released and two convenient store clerks were murdered because of it. This doesn’t include any assaults, rapes, robberies, etc.Stupid CT electorate.
made up
Tell that to the families of the two deceased store clerks.
Not according to this news article:
http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/connecticut/voice-of-the-people-sept-24-2012#.UUD80DdWJnQ
Conn-serv: does this mean that you donz’t mind having you taxes raise to accommodate the extra big house guests?
I wont respond to a Marxist loon.
Peace, my brother.
shouldn’t have to raise taxes. Release the marijuana smokers’ – that’ll free up lots of space
Actually, it was 7,500 last year. It’s probably well over 8,000 by now. Mike Lawlor’s gift to law-abiding citizens: Give early-release credits to violent criminals (e.g., Frankie Resto) if they take an anger management class.
If those companies need help packing, me along with the families of Newtown will be more than happy to help
Maybe all of you can move to China while you’re at it!
Count me in. I can do heavy lifting on weekends only.
so Joanie speaks for the Newton families now. Who does that remind us of? Who else always pretends to speak for others on these blogs?
Behave yourself.
The way I see it and I could be wrong, Danny-boy is saying that they’ll still be able to make them here, but not sell them in CT. Using secular regressive logic,if in their pea sized brain the weapon is to deadly or evil to sell here and causes much more lethal harm than what they are proposing, then wouldn’t the same weapon sold in other states be equally bad in their mind? After all Danny, you wouldn’t want more blood spilled in another state to be attributed to a current weak governor and CT general assembly who thought it ok to still keep the armorers here, but only sell their product in said other state now would you? What you’ll do to keep the tax revenue here is despicable.
The funny thing is Malloy must think there is an impermeable border around CT.
Perhaps Malloy is planning on setting up The Dandenburg Gate on 84 in Danbury, The Enfield Wall on 91 in Enfield, a DMZ on 95 in Stonington, various Gestapo members patrolling rural routes into CT, and a fleet of u-boats to board all vessels entering the Sound. That way, all people entering the State from places that still acknowledge the 2nd Amendment can be thoroughly searched for AR-15s prior to gaining access to the People’s Republic of Connecticut.
Of course this also justifies warrantless searches of all mail and packages larger than a loaf of bread. Mind as well conduct daily raids of people’s homes to check for unapproved weapons as well. Providing the personel to staff this fascism should put a small dent in CT’s unemployment problem Malloy is pretending not to see.
I’ll say it again: Achtung, baby! time to stitch swastikas on the police uniforms so they can justify legal home invasions to relieve honest citizens of their legally purchased products.
Time to hire only police officers who belong to the Oath Keepers.
Hopefully, National Guard and miliray personnel will not allow themselves to be used to violate the constitution. If the politicians won’t honor their oath then we must hope that police and military will
calm down Kim. hey, since I am in a truth mode, i never reported you to anyone so don’t sweat on it. i have enjoyed a few good head games, though. I have one pending to reveal soon. but no biggie.
I could care less about what you report and don’t report billyboy. The cops just laughed you out of their offices anyway – the usual response to your unreasonable fears and paranoia.
Now that you’ve been fingered in the Courant story as sitting in your lawn chair then speaking at the legislative hearing, you feel comfortable using your real name here. I seem to recall your regretting that in the past, but it’s good to see you acting so bravely.
Other than you stating such, how do we tell the difference between your ‘truth mode’ and the usual mode (if there is a difference)?
It does not matter what or how many are in a magazine it it the person holding the weapon. Magazines as well as guns if they are on the shelves out of harms way do no harm. It is when they are put together and put in the hands of the mentally insane. Screen all the applications, which means putting more people to work then so be it.
Malloy is destroying CT on every front. This state will be a WASTELAND in short order. When he gets re-elected, look out below!!!!!!!
I’m moving down south or out west.
Seeeeeeeeeeeeee Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Bye Paulie waulie…
Wow, I’d say folks are pretty heated over this gun stuff. I just hope it translates into voting liberals out in November and restoring sanity to Hartford.
I hope Stag and the rest of CT firearms manufacturers go someplace where the “people” and their government leave them alone.
The other interesting movement is gun manufacturers refusing to sell the hypocrite states (read Connecticut, New York, California etc,) that ban their citizens from owning certain models of guns or magazines of a certain capacities but exempt their police.
This needs to become universal. Police are not military, they need to live by the same rules as any citizen.
All the Ct makers of guns, ammo, should say bye bye. We are going to move, take our jobs, empty out the old plants for scenic blight, and refuse to sell firearms to any Ct government agency.{state or town} No parts, ammo, nothing.
Maybe the absolute idiots at the state capitol will get the idea to stop shooting themselves in the foot. What a bunch of contradictions when dealing with firearms , ammo, ect.
I’m sure glad all the really bad guys are going to follow these laws. For all you dems who voted for these socialist crooks, you deserve to have your taken away. After all liberalism is a mental disorder.
Deadly Shootings Rattle Upstate New York.
They just passed VERY strict gun control in NY state. How did this happen?
The only wy the citizens of CT will win is if we ban together and do non compliance to all proposals. This is h only way. They will have to build more jails for all of us!
if banning together were effective, why is CT top-heavy with Democrats? I support your idea but it probably isn’t likely to happen unless there are enough Democrat/liberal gun owners in CT
I suppose then we could hire a lot of laborers on construction of prisons.
I get so depressed when I read liberal slanted articles on the gun issue, such as this. Articles that make me believe fear and ignorance are prevailing. For it is truly ignorant to believe any firearm ban will be able to prevent a murder or mass murder any better than a speed limit prevents car accidents. Thankfully, I am always relieved at the comments that follow. Those that clearly indicate the fear mongerers and gun banners are the loud minority are nearly irrelevent. Why ? because despite what they think, it really doesn’t affect them. No matter what happens, their lives will not change. They feared guns before, they will still fear them. They won’t buy them. They will forget about them. They will buy their Starbucks Coffee, go to work, come home, watch Oprah, and go to bed. Tommorow… Same drill. It just don’t matter to them. But it affects me and I’m guessing, you too. I enjoy shooting sports. I do not fear guns. Actually, I fear my government much more. So, I will fight like a man defending his home. Defending his liberty. You all must too. Write or call your lawmakers every week, as I do. And Please, let us all remember what is most important… Watch closely how your local lawmakers vote on this issue. Next Novemeber, punish all who take away what little gun rights we have left in CT. AND… above all, Malloy MUST be removed from office !!!
It looks like its starting with some of the small companies in CT.. A few of my friends in machine shops are already being laid off. Because of Malloy it will only get worse.
They are not leaving the state because they will go out of business. They are leaving to tell Obama and the left to cram it! I plan to do the same.
Honestly, it is hypocrisy. If he has such concern to protect our school children against these “evil items,” then why would he continue to allow, even encourage through legislative exemptions, their production in CT? Are school children outside of CT not deserving of the same protection? The CT firearms industry employs 3000 directly, and an additional 5000 through suppliers and servicers, and contributes $1.7 Billion annually to our state economy. A very bitter pill should these manufacturers leave the state, especially with CT’s weak economy and “negative job growth.” The Governor would not be putting economic interest ahead of protecting children, would he? He can’t say we must ban these items (the items now being most semi-auto rifles) to save children and, at the same time, say he wants their production to stay in CT. Hypocrisy. And he can’t slough this off as “we had a ban before and the manufacturers didn’t leave.” This new ban of his would ban most semi-auto rifles in existence – a vastly different scenario than the previous ban (which still exists today in CT).
Governor Malloy says. ” “That doesn’t mean we will allow for the sale in the state,” Malloy said.
Sir, the population of this state overwhelmingly supports the death penalty also, but you say no. So what do the citizen’s wishes have to do with anything ?
” We just don’t want people to drive trucks through loopholes.” Doesn’t he mean potholes?
Two cents- the AR15 (which is not an “assault rifle”) was not used in the Newtown shootings. Why go after the AR15 when it was claimed to have been used? It is the easiest stepping stone to gun control via emotion. When some tragedy occurs, such as a drunk driver killing a bus load of children, will we ban alcohol? Will we be required to put breathalizers in our cars to make sure we don’t drive drunk? Emotion is a driving factor in making hasty decisions, and this people, is where the government takes advantage of the common people. When will you wake up and realize, this is not your country any longer? We need to come together and take back this country to where it belongs… in the hands of the PEOPLE!
No one is suggesting that they will “go under,” Dannel.
What people are saying is that they will LEAVE.
So many states that have much lower taxes and cost of doing business. So many choices.
Why antagonize them when the legislation you are cramming through the legislature will do nothing to prevent future Sandy Hooks?
Is the promise of a job in Obama’s administration that important?
So it wil be legal to buy an assault weapon outside the state and then bring into the state and kill people.
Boy that Malloy is a genius
does anyone know what the 11 bills are, or know a website they are listed on?
What manufacturer would stay in a state where the Government uses the revenue produced by the manufacturing company’s tax dollars to crush their business? At the same time that same government will make the very product you make illegal? Not one of the employees of your company can legally own what you make. Why would you stay here when your two main senators (Chris Murphy and Dick Blumenthal) constantly trumpet accross the country that what you make is evil. Your Governor, Dannel Malloy, doesn’t remember that this state was built on the manufacturer’s lifelong contributions to keeping America on the forefront of defense and freedom. Our politicians would be content to micturate on your backs and tell you it’s raining! I hope the legislation doesn’t pass so we can continue to keep this fine manufacturing tradition in this state. But if that unfortunate day comes when the hysteria created by the legislator’s thirst for the spotlight and gaining political capital results in bad laws, I want to thank you Colt, Ruger, OF Mossberg, Stag Arms and your associated suppliers for your presence in the state and your contribution to our history in Connecticut. I wish you well wherever you end up.
Malloy and Obama and the politicans pushing gun control are idiots. They pushed people to buy more guns and more ammo in case bills pass. People, men and women alike who might have been thinking about getting their permits are doing it because of these stupid politicans. I’m keeping track of the ones pushing gun control and will never vote for them again. Stop using our tax money for your own personal agenda and work on political problems that you voted in to do.
Well said…….lmaooooooooooo
He might as well – he’s doing it to the rest of us
Kim, I take it all back. You are not the worst. I think I can work with you.
But who the heck is ant?
While accurate and succinct, I hope Ant’s comments don’t return us to the days of Rick Green deciding who’s speech is acceptable.
I’m looking for the number right now. He’s out. That crosses the line.
Well maybe we aught to try and keep thinks a little more civil even though our inclination is to splatter the blood?
Ant crossed the line. A child doesn’t need to have access to this kind of baloney. I can hear your type away right now. But honestly, I do believe that I am changing to a gentler and kinder sort from this day forward.
Brother johngaltwhereru: Have a nice day. and Brother Kim, you also have a nice day. Hope I see you down at the LOB tomorrow.
Billy,
The LOB trip is not worth the commute, nor the plane ticket.
I think Ant’s comments were over the top for a public forum. But to think you are saving children from anything is naive.
Kids can access all manner of filth all over the internet that make Ant’s comments sound like angels singing with God, Allah, Jehovah, Zeus and all the other gods in unison.
Have a wonderful day. I hope it doesn’t snow on you again for a while. You will need a big swath of non-snow covered Capitol Lawn to host the 50 million CT residents that come to celebrate the anti-2nd Amendment legislative victory.
deja vu all over again
Amen john
And may you have a safe swim and try to avoid a few sharks. They are liberals and they will eat you alive.
JohnGalt: well he insulted me and you got to do something real big to get me fluttered up. Forget the kids.
JohnGalt; if I haven’t said so before, I am… I don’t know how to spell the word, I’m covetous of yor off shore home. I used to go to the islands a few times during the winter. Once I went almost every other weekend. Cheap flights back them. My favorite is Belize and in particular, Gover’s Atoll. Check it out. It is. 9 acre island way out and very bucolic. The boat only tranorts once a week. Of course I almost drowned in a near scuba accident once, LOL.
Check it put.
Coleen that is
vu daje too
