NGA  Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is in Washington, D.C., for the winter meeting of the National Governors Association, where he is to chair a Sunday afternoon session on education titled “A Governor’s Plan to Grow School Leaders and Teachers: Prepare, Recruit, Evaluate, Reward.” The meeting begins today and runs through Monday. It includes a black tie affair at the White House for the governors and their spouses Sunday night, and meetings with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Monday.2013GovAssn

Friday afternoon, the governor’s office released the following schedule for Malloy’s trip:

Today: 3 p.m.: Politico’s Third Annual State Solutions Conference

Saturday: 11 a.m., NGA Winter Meeting opening session, “A Better Bottom Line: Employing People with Disabilities”; 3 p.m.: NGA Health and Homeland Security Committee meeting: “Protecting Our Nation: States and Cybersecurity.”

Sunday: 9:30 a.m., NGA special session meeting “Leaders Speak: Models from the Private and Public Sectors”; 3:30 p.m., chairs NGA Education and Workforce Committee meeting, “A Governor’s Plan to Grow School Leaders and Teachers.”

Monday: 9 a.m. NGA  closing session, “Consideration of NGA Policies.”
