Malloy To China: ‘To Put Connecticut On The Map’
Gov. Dannel Malloy will go to China as part of a World Economic Form Summit meeting in Tianjin from Sept. 8 to 16. He will be the first Connecticut governor to travel to China since William A. O’Neill, who went in 1987.
In a statement, Malloy said the trip was about “figuring ways to create good-paying jobs with good benefits for Connecticut residents.”
“I want to use this opportunity to do two things: convince Chinese companies that Connecticut is a great place to establish a presence in the United States and let the Chinese know that Connecticut-based companies are ready and willing to do business with them too.”
Taxpayers will fund the trip, which will cost about $20,000. Malloy will be accompanied by Catherine Smith, Department of Economic and Community Development.

If we are lucky – he will decide to stay there.
Taxpayers will fund the trip, which will cost about $20,000.
This is the Problem with America, Public Sector Employees getting Everything at the Tax payer’s expense!
Just another worthless and expensive jaunt, at taxpayer’s expense, by our socialiast-lib-whacko Governor to a country that has a similar government to what now exists here in Connecticut.
One must wonder if Malloy believes more in the Book of Mao, or Lenin’s teachings, when it comes to daily governance. Whichever it is, certainly it is mitigated and controlled by Malloy’s union-thug handlers.
Obviously Republicans lol ^^^
Fitting for the head of the People’s Republic of Connecticut
Any chance he can stay there?
Seriously? Last time I checked, CT WAS on the map. Going to China to find good paying jobs? Don’t they pay their people 2 dollars a day? I would completely support a trip to another state in this country that has thier finances figured out and Dumba$$ can learn something! Going to China to get them to bring jobs here is like going to Iran to have them bring oil drilling here.
Just Malloy and Smith, who are they kidding, they need someone to take care of them. Malloy could not fly to China by himself, he would get lost going to the airport. I’m sure where talking first class to China for the 2 of them.
$20,000.00 – Let me know who the travel agent is, I would like to book this trip myself for 20,000.00 for 2. Does this include the Limo to the airport?
I agree with the above remarks. I do hope he stays there too J.
Malloy is another Obama, he’s spending money the state doesn’t have on jaunts around the world. I wish I could take afford to go on vacation but I’m too busy working so I can pay my taxes. Maybe China will close their borders and Malloy will have to stay there.
What this state needs is for Gov to plant his butt in our State, get his spendthrift legislature under control and support the small businesses that would help our economy grow. Instead, he tosses more tax payer dollars out the window with a frivolous trip to the commie country he envies and pushes us to be more like. I don’t know about other Nutmeggers, but I’m fed up and tired. Boot them all.
Tell Chinese business leaders that they should come to Connecticut, open a business, and the Governor himself will personally help its workers unionize.
Shame on you Gov Malloy. Going to China at my expense to ask the Chinese for a hand-out? Shame on you. My neighbor has been turning every other way possible to get help for his small biz and you go to China to find opportunities for CT? Shame on you! You are waisting my money on another foolish idea.
Great…..
We need someone who is willing to work and travel for our state. We want new business in our state.
