Tim Murtaugh, the spokesman for Linda McMahon’s U.S. Senate campaign, has left his post.

Murtaugh, whose departure was first reported by Susan Haigh of the Associated Press, could not be reached for  comment.

Campaign manager Corry Bliss declined to discuss Murtaugh’s departure in detail. “He is no longer with the campaign,” Bliss told me this afternoon. “We wish him nothing but the best.”

Bliss said Murtaugh left “for personal reasons.”

Murtaugh came on board early this summer, replacing former communications director Erin Issac, who left the campaign for family reasons in June.

4 Responses to McMahon, Campaign Spox Tim Murtaugh Part Ways

At this point I think I’d rather be the dummer for Spinal Tap than McMahon’s spokesperson

  2. Seth says:

    *drummer

Not an easy job from informed inside sources. Selling a candidate who has been described by Chris Powell who is “bereft of even school boyish knowledge of government” can’t be easy! Also, she does NOT submit to reporter’s questions! Nor does she sit before Ed Bds for Q and A sessions! It’s a campaign she is ‘buying’ with ads, mailers, robo calls. As Dan Rather used to say “ya can’t chrome-plate cow dung.”

Chris Powell is a flak for Simmons and, apparently, a sore loser. McMahon is early in the campaign and is honing her message and messengers. She has surrounded herself with competent advisors and has wisely chosen to decline the nearly universally liberal editorial boards, whose primary purpose is to embarrass conservative candidates and engage in “gotcha” baiting. She’s been the victim of such media “objectivity” before. In spite of the ad hominem mudslinging, I believe her tactical moves will help her win the election.
