McMahon Senate Spending Tops $77 Million for 2010 and 2012
Linda McMahon dipped into her personal fortune to give her campaign another $14.8 million between June and September, bringing her total loan to her U.S. Senate campaign to $27.2 million. She has now spent $77 million of her own money on running for senate in 2010 and 2012.
According to a Federal Election Commission report filed this week, McMahon raised about $321,544 from individual donors. The campaign spent $16,547,652 for the third quarter period between June 30 and Sept. 30. McMahon has spent a total of about $28.9 million during her entire 2012 senate campaign — more than four times what her Democratic opponent Chris Murphy has spent.
McMahon has not raised any money from political action committees.
“Unlike Congressman Murphy, Linda McMahon can’t be bought by special interests,” spokesman Todd Abrajano said.
McMahon trails Chris Murphy slightly in the latest UConn/Courant poll.
McMahon’s fundraising totals are not yet available on the Federal Election Committee website. Murphy’s report, already publicly available online, shows that he has $2.2 million in the bank. Murphy raised about $3 million during the third quarter fundraising period that ended Sept. 30. He has raised a total of about $8.3 million in donations from individuals and PACs. Murphy has not loaned his campaign any money. He has spent about $6.2 million.

We will soon discover whether Linda can really buy an election – after showing zero interest in either local or state government either before or after 2010.
Question: Why would any reasonable person wish to spend $77,000,000.00 of their own considerable wealth to apply for a job? What would be on the other side of that prospect, should she actually win? I hope we never have the misfortune to find out as it would appear the lone qualification she has for even running is her checkbook. The cost is too high (for even her) and would be much too high for Connecticut.
One aspect of “why” is that it is not really her money.
She took $22.7 million of your tax dollars to “create” those jobs she is always crowing about. She applied for state tax credits and has received $22.7 million so far and she is asking for more. This money fell right to the bottom line and she took it home as income. See link below.
Sure, she knows how to “create” jobs: take public tax money to do it.
So when Linda McMahon spends “her own money” know that $22.7 million of “her money” came from YOU the taxpayer.

Linda McMahon recently accepted $700,000 from a Political Action Committee – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, one of the nation’s most outspoken and prominent proponents of the Ryan Plan to privatize Medicare, tax cuts for millionaires, and companies that ship jobs overseas.

There goes her self-funded independence.
I notice you liberals never had an issue when Corzine spent $63 million of his own money in 2000 to buy the New Jersey Senate seat. I guess that was okay because he was one of your own. What about the other $30 or more million he spent to become governor of New Jersey…again no problem there because he was a democrat and supporting the unions.
By the way, the tax credits WWE received was for the company not Linda McMahon’s own pockets. She received a salary like everyone else. She saved her personal money before it became a publicly traded company 11 or 12 years ago and invested her money wisely. Perhaps if the liberals quit beating up companies and learned how capitalism and our economy works, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are in.
Mike why don’t you go after your man Murphy for taking campaign contributions from companies like GE and The Hartford–all have been cited for outsourcing. I guess you don’t want to talk about the hypocrisy.
In the 3rd debate Linda McMahon said “I’m not accepting any PAC or special interest money.”
But there is now a “special interest” group that has spent $700,000 to create and show ads for her on TV. They don’t give her the money, but they do fill the airwaves with McMahon ads. She is a huge beneficiary of that PAC money.
Chris Murphy never made such a claim.
The $37 million of our tax money went to the company. She and her family own 70 percent of that company and control 96 percent of the voting power.
The federal web site says she has accepted over $1.3 million in contributions as of July. Here are some of the larger contributors to Linda McMahon:
Morgan Stanley $23,550.00
Ott International $15,000.00
Thor Industries $12,500.00
Ceci Brothers $10,000.00
Invemed Assoc $10,000.00
Midstream Partners $10,000.00
Wexford Capital $10,000.00
JPMorgan Chase & Co $ 9,231.00
Miller Motorcars $ 8,000.00
Aegis Sciences $ 7,500.00
