Tim Murtaugh is taking over as Linda McMahon’s Communications Director, completing a switch of the Republican Senate candidate’s top press person about five weeks before the state’s Aug. 14 primary.

The campaign’s previous Communications Director, Erin Isaac, left the campaign last week because of unspecified family reasons. The campaign declined to saying anything else about the circumstances surrounding Isaac’s departure.

Murtaugh, who was an independent consultant before joining the McMahon campaign, has previously been a spokesperson for several Republican groups, including the Republican Governors Association, the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Virginia. He has also worked as the bureau chief at the Virginia state Capitol for WVIR-TV, an NBC affiliate based in Charlottesville.
