The plan is to brand Republican Andrew Roraback as a Tea Party Republican.

It gets ugly, fast.

“The video is poor attempt to define me. Voters will see through this,” Roraback said this morning. “At no point have I run from my political stripe: I am what is conspicuous by its absence in the national debate and what is desperately needed — the common sense voice of the traditional Connecticut and New England Republican.”

Rothenberg now calls the district a toss-up, which means it will attract national attention and money.

Here goes:

8 Responses to National Dems: Roraback Is Really A Tea Party Republican

  1. Charles DeLeo says:

Roroback is a moderate when you want one and a Tea Bagger if thats what you are looking for. He speaks with a “forked tounge” Most Republicans are in the position of having to satisfy the extreme elements of the Party and at the same time not alienate their mainstream supporters

  2. Mike P. says:

I am a pro-life Republican, certainly much more conservative than Roraback, and I do not live in the 5th district, but I still think he is a very principled person. He has not run from his political stripe during the campaign. He is a moderate- not just on ‘social issues’ but on many other issues, too. He fits the 5th district very well, just as a pro-life Democrat like Mark Critz fits his district very well. Roraback never ran to the right during the campaign, despite attacks from the right. I don’t see him doing any such running now that he is being attacked from the left.

  3. George says:

There isn’t a TEA Party member in CT who would agree with that characterization.

  4. Bill Mainor says:

The DCCC is out of touch. Roraback would have won the Democratic Primary if he entered it. Now in the general, free from the screwballs in the Republican primary, he’ll win by Murphy’s 2010 margin.

    • Palin Smith says:

When Connecticut voters get to chose between two identicle candidates, one with an R and one with a D, the D usually wins. Some think the top brass in the GOP would flunk out of Clown College.

  5. Sean Murphy says:

Roraback is exactly what the Tea Party movement despises. He is a left wing Democrat posing as a Republican.

I live in the 5th and will under no circumstances ever vote for him.

When liberals are offered liberals, they always choose the one registered as a Democrat.

Roraback along with McMahon will suppress the conservative vote. I expect Republicans to lose legislative seats because of these two.

  6. badbob says:

Sow and ye shall reap. Y’all have Roraback-Esty or is it Esty-Roraback? I highly advise the RNC or RMC PAC not to waste any $$ there.

After we dump Obama (Jimmy Carter in an empty suit of a community organizer, whatever that is), things in CT will go from bad to worse. Especially with another likely Dem congressional delegation. Sorry, that’s the payback. Glad I left years ago. CT is now San Fran without the bay. Wait’ll Ms. Esty gets in….brrrrr.

    Regards,
Sign me: one of “those Screwballs”, a helluva lot better off than you Mainor!

  7. Palin Smith says:

The DCCC just insulted the CT Tea Party.
Mark Greenberg was the prime tea party candidate.
He was undercut two days before the Primary by a Democrat, DRESSED-UP LIKE A REPUBLICAN, who employed DIRTY LIAR TACTICS. She fooled 6000 idiots to vote for her.

And answer this: The loser in the 2nd district got 33%
The winner in the 5th got 33%.

Somethings screwy in Connecticut! In other states when nobody gets 50% there is usually a two-man runoff. Why not in Connecticut? It does not make sense!!No wonder the CT GOP is on life support!
