In a press release issued Wednesday, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says absentee ballots for the Nov. 6 election are now available.

To get an absentee ballot, registered Connecticut voters can download the necessary application at www.sots.ct.gov, or they can request an application through their local town clerk’s office. Once the application is complete, the absentee ballots will be sent to voters in the mail.

Voters should fill out the absentee ballots and return them in person or by mail to their local town clerk. To be counted, the ballots must be received no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Merrill also wants to remind Connecticut residents that they have until Oct. 23 to register to vote by mail. The deadline to register in person is Oct. 30.
