HNutmeggers in DC Raise More Than $2,500 for Sandy Hook Charities
The Connecticut State Society of Washington D.C., a network for Nutmeggers in the nation’s Capitol, held a fundraiser last night for two Sandy Hook-related charities. The University of Connecticut, National Capital Alumni Association Chapter, co-sponsored the event.
More than 100 people attended, including U.S. Reps. John Larson, Rosa DeLauro and Jim Himes. The group brought in about $2,500, which will be donated to the Sandy Hook School Support Fund, established by the United Way of Western Connecticut to support the community, and the Sandy Hook Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Connecticut.
The event was held at the Tortilla Coast restaurant, which donated the food and the space for the reception; servers at the restaurant donated their time as well.
