Didn’t Colonel Stebbins make the comment that they were going to utilize ticket revenue to pay for the Troop Dispatch consolidation? This is the plan that closes Troop A (Southbury) and Troop B (Cannan) after 4PM on weekdays and on weekends.
It’s pretty amazing that Col. Stebbins (in testimony) has agreed to eliminate the 1248 Trooper mandate but pushed to give raises to Lieutenants, Captains, Majors, and Lieutenant Colonels – approximately $750K to $1.25 Million worth to start. It’s between $10K to $30K per such employee – about 50 total. The raises are currently slated for a Public Hearing in the Appropriations Committee on April 14th. It will be interesting to see the OFA report on the total impact over the next few budget years. I wonder how many Troopers that would hire to have a direct impact on keeping our highways and Towns safe?
