Sandy Hook Promise, Newtown Parents Hold SF Event

Sandy Hook Promise, the Newtown group that came together after the Dec. 14 school attack, will hold a press conference and town hall-style forum at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on the three-month anniversary of the tragedy.

Members of the Technology Committee to Release Gun Violence will join San Franciso Mayor Ed Lee, technology investor Ron Conway, Sandy Hook Promise co-founder Tim Makris and parents from Sandy Hook Elementary School at a press conference Thursday morning. According to Sandy Hook Promise the purpose is

“to announce new initiatives designed to harness technology and innovation to reduce gun violence, including a ‘call for ideas’ to reduce gun violence and a commitment by leading venture capitalists and angel investors to fund promising innovations in gun safety, mental health research and related new technologies.”
