Bridgeport Superintendent of Schools is headed back to Illinois to run for Lt. Governor, according to the Capitol Fax blog.
Vallas’s future in Bridgeport was sealed this week when a slate of candidates from the Working Families Party and the Democrats won control of the board of education. Vallas has been at the center of a controversy over school reform and charter schools.
The Chicago Tribune has this statement from Quinn’s campaign:
I’ve known Paul Vallas for 30 years and he’s never been shy about fighting for education, reform and opportunities for working people. We have made great progress these last few years, but serious challenges remain and our mission is not yet accomplished.
