School safety expert Ken Trump spoke to the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission via Skype call on Friday. Trump is the head of a Cleveland-based firm called National School Safety and Security Services.
Trump told members they should recommend changes that are easy for schools to implement and that they shouldn’t let the conversation about school safety fade as the Sandy Hook shooting becomes a more distant memory.
The head of the panel, Hamden Mayor Scott Jackson, said he wants to issue a final report by the end of this year. The group’s interim report influenced the major gun control legislation that passed the legislature earlier this year.
