Female voters, particularly unaffiliated ones, may be the difference in the race for the U.S. Senate. Today, a group called Mothers Opposing McMahon re-emerged at at press conference in a West Hartford park.  The group says McMahon, formerly an executive with wrestling giant WWE, “profited off the marketing of violence against women and mistreatment of her employees.”

According to the Mothers Opposing McMahon website, they are funded by the Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee.

The McMahon campaign calls the two-year-old group “a partisan attack machine” and pointed to its own group, the 2,000-member Women for McMahon. The McMahon campaign said the anti-McMahon group is made up of “registered Democrats,” while its own women’s group consists of members who support Linda “because of her life story … and her jobs plan.”

I have said this before over and over again…as someone who is not affiliated with either party, I find the Democrats hypocrisy appalling. The Democrats and the President have no issue with taking money from Hollywood–the masters at marketing sex and violence to children. Yet, they turn around and criticize a fully-scripted entertainment show and the woman who use to run it. If McMahon was running as a Democrat, she would never be criticized by the D’s.

Once the Democrats give back all the money they have received from Hollywood elites, I will begin to take this criticism seriously. The press should also call the Democrats out on this but it is unlikely.

    LOL.
    “Mothers Opposing McMahon”
How did you “uncover” this vital niche special interest group…

Speaking from a woman’s perspective, I think that all of the claims about WWE and its programs are over exaggerated. Not only do I understand the fictional nature of the WWE universe, but I also enjoy the dramatic entertainment it provides. In addition, I have many other female friends who enjoy the WWE as much as I do.

  4. Josh Anselmo says:

I can’t believe the way people complain about the content of WWE’s programming while it is rated TV-PG compared to the majority of TV-14 programming that dominates the airwaves today. As a fan of wrestling my whole life, I can’t see anything wrong with enjoying the program with my children in the same way I did when I was a kid.

    • MikeD says:

Well let’s not forget that the WWE was TV-14 until 2009 when it was changed to TV-PG to prep for McMahon’s campaign run.
I worked at the New Haven Coliseum during many WWE events and it is polar opposite now from what it was then. And if you or any of the above McManiacs let your kids watch it then, well that’s just dumb

  5. Brent Worshac says:

This nonsense about WWE content is tiresome. I watch WWE’s weekly shows with both of my young children and I think a lot of it is better than the content they can easily find on many other programs. They know it’s not real, they know they’re watching characters and I know its PG. That’s all fine with me.

The McMahon campaign claim that Linda has 2,000 Women for Linda is inaccurate. Several of us whose names appear on the list are not supporters; our names were obtained while attending an event to hear what she had to say, that’s all, simply to hear what she had to say. It is disingenuous to ask a person their name and then claim they are supporting you.

The issue under discussion is not whether or not the Democratic party and President have accepted donations from “Hollywood–the masters at marketing sex and violence to children”. It is very easy to make sweeping generalizations of this sort, but until you provide specifics, there is no way to evaluate whether or not you’re making an accurate comparison. In this case, the issue is that Linda McMahon was President and later CEO of WWE, an organization which not only portrays the blatant abuse of women on stage, but also markets this as family entertainment. Even if you accept that everyone who watches understands that it’s a show, it is still inappropriate for children to be exposed to this type of entertainment. It is even worse for them to be part of a crowd of adults, including their family members whose opinions and values form their foundation, who are cheering when men rip the clothes off women, drag them around by their hair, pick them up with one hand around their neck and the other in their crotch, and literally toss them around. This is not funny, this is not entertainment and no matter the political party, I would not want anyone who thought it was to be involved in making the laws that govern our society. I applaud Mothers Against McMahon for raising this issue again.

Once again, a liberal news outlet. I would think any female regardless of the party they are in or not in would be standing up and cheering Linda.
To bust her chops about an entertainment establishment is nuts. Here is a Lady, and I use the word LADY strongly, that has been on the bottom and has made it to the top in what do you all complain about, (Glass ceiling). Do you scream about all the main stream shows and movies put on TV and produced for the movies. You people make me want to throw up.There is far worse stuff on tv then WWE. Let me name a few that be-little females. 2 1/2 men, yeah I know but it is funny. SLV when they run down any Conservative leaning Female. The list goes on, but all I will say to you is your are Hypocrites! Linda, as a United States Navy vet, you have my vote, my wifes vote, my three daughters votes and two of my grand-daughters votes. And I will be out in force supporting you on August 14th and then all the way through November 6th

This is hypocrisy at its finest!
The liberal-side of our leadership and our “community organizers” have for years been supporting and pushing legislation that: gives out condoms to school children, throws condoms at school children (Providence, RI) in public to make a statement, mandates education of children in alternative lifestyles including the various acts involved, mandates education of children in the birth process and the birth control options, write taxpayer-funded legislation to apply taxpayer dollars to abortion (in CT) – all of that leading to a dumbing-down of our nation’s youth as it pertains to personal responsibility for their life and that of any offspring they may create as a result.
Yet every time Linda’s name comes up they use this to explain why she shouldn’t be supported. Is it because they cannot discredit her any other way?
